"For Bryan Singer's and producer Tom De Santo's Battlestar Galactica we did designs to come up with a new look for the Cylons. In addition we designed other "races" At the time of my involvement the script was still going through changes the alien or other races in the pilot at least were none or minimal. We had done a lot of preliminary work for Universal Pictures. We have gone through stages of designs, and full silicone busts, just trying to impress upon them what there options were. Although it seemed executive producers Bill Brown and Tom Desanto liked my vision for a new cylon and aliens, Bryan came up with this whole new approach as far as a more organic bio mechanical look. So I went back to the drawing board and had my designers try and come closer to Bryan vision, Desanto really loved the stuff, you could tell he was a big fan of the old show.
Bryan's approach or new vision was really racking my brain to satisfy were he was going, but at that point Desanto called and said were back to robots,
I was hoping of making the Cylon a whole new way of looking at Robot suits I wanted to go all out and beat anything that has been done before.
The show is now on hold maybe someday if the show gets back on track I'll get a chance to do the aliens that I want to do.
I really loved the old show, and my key artist and animatronics people really broke there balls, the work you see here was a team effort of some amazing guys who stood behind me. And knew I had a strong vision of the designs and what I wanted, among those names are Mike Marino, Tom Denire Jr., Greg Ramoundos, Jerry Constantine, Jacob Hair, Paul Abrams, and David Lowe.
I myself sculpted the aliens day and night we had total lock down in my shop of info leaking out cause we were one of the first shops up for the gig, thanks to Mr. Singer and Mr. Desanto. I was given that shot before things changed, and now the news that it might be well shut down, is a shame.
I am hoping in showing this stuff that somewhere someone will get excited enough to jump on board Galactica and give it a shot, a remake of the show is screaming for army's of cylons fighting the humans in a new war. And if done right it could be spectacular".
